Sidney Toler started his career as a stage actor before moving into films where he appeared in over 50 films. He is best know for staring in 22 Charlie Chan films from 1939 through to 1946. Initially they were made by Paramount, but when they dropped the series Sidney Toler picked up the rights and the rest were made by Monogram.
